Persistence

I done seen alot of people quit, alot of musicians and artists. They get so frustrated with the struggle and not making it that they quit and give up. But you gotta keep on and follow your heart cause you wnt be happy doing anything else.” – J Cole
Alot of times I’ve felt so tempted to give up on the hustle and settle for a job and a life that’ll make me miserable.  In any dream or hustle there’s always temporary defeat to test your hunger and your desire. Theres always a period of stagnation which forces you to take your creativity to the next level.

As writer Napoleon Hill once said:

“Sometimes in life it appears that there is a hidden guide, whose duty is to test men through all sorts of discouraging experiences. Those who pick themselves up after defeat and keep on trying arrive; and the world cries: “Bravo! I knew you could do it!”

The Hidden Guide lets no one enjoy great achievement without passing the Persistence Test. Those who cant take it simply dont make the grade.”

Last week I had a gig that did that to me. Even though everything seemed primed for success and I was supposed to earn a good amount of money, I barely earned as much as I expected. I left that night disappointed and confused.

I had to reevaluate myself…

Even though situations rise that threaten to demean you and your dreams of success hold on to your dream.  Usually before our visions of success are realized, God gives us glimpses of it. *The more you envision yourself leading in the boardroom, launching your own business, serving a ministry, writing your first book or helping others through your unique gifts, the sooner it will become a reality…

To do this is to will it into reality and Success doesnt respond to one’s wishes but to one’s will.

In 1915  Fannie Hurst came to New York to make it big as a writer. For years she labored. When her hope grew dim she did not say, “All right Broadway, you win!” She said “Very well Broadway, you may defeat some but not me, I’m going to force you to give up.

One publisher sent her 36 rejection slips before she broker the ice and got a story across. she pounded the pavement. She was determined to succeed.

Then finally came the payoff. The spell had been broken. From that time one publishers made a beaten path to her door. Money came so fast she hardly had time to count it. Then the film industry discovered her and money came not in small change but in floods.

Wherever men and women accumulate great riches you may be sure they first aquired persistence. Life desires persistence from those who  have great  plans.
